ND: Leading the US in Exports AND Protectionism?

BISMARK, ND -- North Dakota ranked top in the nation for export growth in 2007, according to U.S. Commercial Service reports. The state's exports totaled $2 billion in 2007, up 34% from its $1.5 billion in exports in 2006; nationally, export growth was 12% more than the previous year.

Among the top export destinations for North Dakota were Canada, which represented 49% of the market, Mexico, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Australia. The top exports were skid steer loaders, motor vehicle parts, agricultural tractors, wheat, oil, sunflowers, machinery and crops, according to reports.

Dept. of Commerce International Trade Administration: Since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was signed in 1993, North Dakota’s combined exports to Canada and Mexico have increased 83%.

WSJ Washington Wire -- North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan endorsed Barack Obama, saying the fact that Obama “has always opposed NAFTA” was a major factor in his endorsement.

You wonder when these folks will actually consider the unthinkable, the benefits of trade.

Sen. Obama is also interested in raising corporate taxes on all overseas operations of US multinationals. How much fairer it will be for U.S. companies to pay higher corp. taxes than their foreign competitors?

See Obama's Patriot Act, Feb. 26, Wall St. Journal:

...and people actually want to vote for this kind of change.

Well, cut my head off with a big knife.

What I love most about Sen. Obama's inclusive message is how he talks about bringing independents and Republicans "to his side". Yep, that's inclusive alright...just ask everyone to share your opinion. Hey, it works for Sen. Byron Dorgan.

Well I guess Dorgan again just had to show us that his grip on reality is at best tenuous...

After all Dorgan is part and parcel of this collection of a$$-clowns: House Dems Pass Massive Tax Hike on Oil Companies to Bring Down Price of Fuel...

House Democrats passed legislation again yesterday to place $18 billion in new taxes on the largest oil companies, an industry that is already overtaxed by government...

The bill passed 236-182 largely along party lines...

Hoyer acknowledged "this legislation alone will not bring down gas prices." But he said the measure will provide a needed boost to alternative energy industries — solar, wind, biofuels, and geothermal — and help promote energy conservation. "That may bring down gas prices three years from now, 10 years from now," he said.

When will these libtards figure it out? The companies will pass on the cost of the libtards' collective idiocy to the customer...
