I have to admit ... I still prefer popcorn from a pot with oil! It just tastes better than microwave popcorn.

Much as we fear change, there are some tasks which one will not miss - like posting accounts & taking trial balances manually followed by the inevitable search for transposition errors.

The future is fun.

Have to agree with you on the popcorn thing. There are few smells as odious as that of microwave popcorn and edible oil products.

last week I noticed that my 14 month old granddaughter wants to see the picture in the camera after you take a snapshot of her.

She will never know film cameras or waiting to see the photos.

Agree with the first two comments...there's still nothing quite like pop corn popped in a pan with oil. I still do that all the time.

And on the third comment, I remember growing up in a rural area, and having to mail canisters of film to a kodak processing plant in West Virginia...I think it took a month to get the photos back!

I think the owner of the Obsolete Skills web site is rather arrogant and in many cases just plain wrong.

BTW - Friends don't let friends eat microwave popcorn. I do mine in a pot with oil too and use real butter.

No hydrogenated palm kernel oil with artificial butter flavoring in a microwave bag of half scortched corn with lots of "old maids" oops... unpopped kernels interspersed within it.

The term "old maids" is probably a candidate for an obsolete language site if there were one.

Don't leave us in suspence amigo, which ones do you consider, 'just plain wrong'?

The one that caught my eye were those regarding the use of dBase...

Still more than a bit of that around and in use...

One other that caught my eye was the Dewey Decimal system... The local county library still has a card catalog (though computer look up is much more in vogue) for folks who won't use the computer...

"The term "old maids" is probably a candidate for an obsolete language site if there were one"...

Good point about various words and phrases...

A quick googling and I found a couple that piqued my interest:

Politically Incorrect Dictionary

The Global Language Monitor

Some of it was sort of interesting and even a bit entertaining...

BTW I don't eat popcorn...

Reminds me of cattle feed...

I too still pop popcorn in a pan with oil and then pour real butter over it. It's just better.

Balancing your Tonearm?? Obsolete?? RU kiddin' me?? I listen to LP records pretty much every day! so do lots of other people. LPs, turntables, tube amps, the past is alive and very well in hi fi. There are a lot of labels that still put out LPs and a lot of companies that still manufacture turntables.
